I came to Bowen therapy through my own pain. I'd been working in the film industry for 20 years and the stress finally caught up with me. For six years, I suffered from chronic low back pain. I had to be careful how I got out of bed, how I stepped off a curb, how I sat, how I stood and how I bent down. My life was full of restrictions. I felt old.

I tried many therapies over the years but nothing helped more than a few hours. I thought I would just have to carry on in a much more limited way. Then a friend suggested I try Bowen. Neither one of us knew what it was but when in pain, you'll try anything.

As I lay on the table for my first treatment, I was very skeptical. My therapist was touching me here and there and then leaving the room. It didn't feel like anything was being done. By the end of the session, I was very relaxed. I couldn't figure out how this had been achieved using such minimal and gentle touch. I also felt different somehow. It was enough to bring me back. Over the next two sessions, all the small aches and pains in my body cleared up and I felt good. Still, there was no change in my back. I decided to return one more time.

Three days after that last treatment, I bounded out of bed and as I reached my bedroom door, stopped dead in my tracks. I realized I hadn't thought about how to get out of bed and there hadn't been any pain, either!

All day I waited for the pain to come back. That was 20 years ago. I have my life back. I was, and am, so astounded by the subtlety and profound strength of this therapy that I had to find out more. In the process, Bowen therapy has become the deeply rewarding focus of my life's work.

Since 2015 I have been working with Niromathé therapy and have had extraordinary results with stubborn osteopathic lesions - blockages - that may have been there for a day or years.
